资源简介:
This proposal investigates the kinetics of chlorite dehydration under Earth's mantle conditions, to understand transient HP phases that may influence planetary dynamics. Traditional thermodynamic models may overlook these metastable phases, yet they could play a crucial role in water transport and geological processes, such as deep-focus earthquakes. Through HP-HT in-situ experiments on various chlorite compositions, the study will explore the dehydration process and its role in dense hydrous silicates (DHMS) formation. The research will focus on monitoring phase transitions and structural determination. The experiments will leverage advanced X-ray diffraction techniques at the ID06-LVP beamline, enabling precise kinetic measurements and crystallographic analysis. The results are expected to enhance the understanding of water transfer mechanisms and the behavior of hydrous minerals in deep Earth conditions.
