资源简介:

This study was conducted by Tanaporn Praditwong of the Population Development Program at Cornell University based on a questionnaire developed by J. Mayone Stycos (see: Population Socialization Among Costa Rican Teenagers, 1985-1987, codebook SIB-2000). Praditwong's complete dissertation is part of the Kroch Library Rare and Mauscripts collection; consult the Cornell University Library catalog for more information. The study employs survey and interview data obtained from a sample of adolescents from three provinces in Thailand. The focus of the study is on family formation attitudes, which are defined to include expected and ideal age at marriage, desired number of children, contraceptive knowledge, and attitudes toward family planning. The model is evaluated with data obtained from a survey of 2,310 adolescents. The survey took place in early 1989 and included students from high school grades 1 to 6 as well as a small number of out of school adolescents. The quantitative survey data are supplemented with qualitative data obtained form focus group interviews.
