SUSTAINABLE TOURISM AND ENVIRONMENTAL CHALLENGES: AN ANALYSIS OF THE CASE OF UZBEKISTAN

Sustainable tourism has become one of the key priorities for achieving balanced economic growth while preserving natural and cultural resources. This paper examines the relationship between sustainable tourism development and environmental challenges in Uzbekistan. It analyzes the current state of the country's tourism sector, identifies major environmental issues affecting tourism destinations, and evaluates the role of sustainable management practices in ensuring long-term development. The study also explores strategies for reducing environmental impacts through eco-friendly tourism policies, responsible resource management, and community participation. The findings indicate that sustainable tourism can significantly contribute to environmental protection, economic diversification, and social well-being if supported by effective government policies and stakeholder cooperation.
