Gene expression profiling of human colorectal cancer cell lines KM12SM and SW620

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the second leading cause of cancer death in developed countries, mainly as a consequence of metastatic spread. A significant number of diagnosed and treated patients relapse after a few years and may eventually die from metastasis. Our goal was to develop and validate a gene-based risk score algorithm for patient stratification in stages II and III based on metastasis-related secreted proteins Affymetrix (Clariom S) array-based mRNA expression profiles generated for KM12SM and SW620 colorectal cancer (CRC) cell lines cultured in vitro under standard conditions. Three replicates of each cell line were performed.
