**Abstract**<br>The rapid advancement of automation, digitalization, and global economic transformation is reshaping labor markets across Kazakhstan and Central Asia, leading to the decline of once-prominent professions. This preliminary research investigates the phenomenon of vanishing occupations in the region, examining the underlying drivers such as technological innovation, shifts in energy systems, and changing consumer behaviors. Drawing on qualitative insights and labor market data from 2014 to 2024, the study highlights key examples—including battery specialists, loader operators, and newspaper vendors—whose roles are being eroded by electric vehicles, autonomous machinery, and digital platforms. Parallel trends across Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan reveal a regional pattern of job displacement intertwined with emerging opportunities in green energy, information technology, and advanced manufacturing. Despite overall employment growth and declining unemployment rates, structural changes in the economy necessitate proactive responses. The research emphasizes the critical role of retraining programs, government initiatives like the "Eңбек" program, public-private partnerships, and investments in future-oriented industries to support workforce transition. The findings underscore that while technological progress is inevitable, its social impact can be mitigated through inclusive policies, continuous upskilling, and sustainable economic planning. This study calls for coordinated action among policymakers, educators, and industry leaders to ensure that the future of work in Central Asia is equitable, resilient, and adaptive to global transformations.
