The aim of this study is to get novel insights into the evolution of human chromosomes 14 and 15. These two chromosomes were generated by a fission event of a submetacentric chromosome in the hominoid common ancestor. This study consists in the analysis of a macaque BAC contig in the region orthologous to the ancestral hominoid fission site and in the investigation of novel pericentromeric sequences of chromosome 14.
