Selective induction of human renal interstitial progenitor cells from iPSCs

Recent regenerative medicine studies using human pluripotent stem cells (hPSCs) have developed protocols to induce multiple kidney-lineage organoids. However, to further form a functional segment of the kidney, interactions of diverse interstitial cells and epithelium are required and a method for selective interstitial progenitor cell (IPC) induction from hPSCs is awaited. Here, we developed a method selectively inducing renal IPCs from hiPSCs based on an analysis of mouse embryonic IPC development. Overall design: Two kinds of hiPSC-derived IPCs were generated by different culture conditions.
