Aboriginal Youth 'Warna' Work on Country: Stage 1

Warna is the Aboriginal Word for 'land' and this project will improve the condition and resilience of two high priority conservation areas on Eyre Peninsula, SA. These areas contain high numbers of endemic and threatened species and ecological communities. Key project objectives include: 1) enhancing existing threatened species priority vegetation stands through pest and weed management; 2) re-vegetating priority areas to create buffers and corridors for priority vegetation types; and 3) tackling feral cat and fox problems threatening this bioregion. This project will also increase the skills, knowledge and employment opportunities for Aboriginal youth in the region and provide additional opportunities for ecological and cultural knowledge transfer between youth, elders and mainstream scientists.
