资源简介:
The Alsada dam and reservoir, a Bureau of Reclamation project on the Little Missouri River in Crook County, is authorized for construction in the near future. It will be a small reservoir, inundating 5,500 acres of the bottom land in this area.
A field, party of the Smithsonian Institution surveyed, this area in August 1951 and presented the archeological potentialities of the reservoir in a previous report. The present site analysis is based on this report and the sites’ files in the Missouri Basin Project office. None of the sitts has, to date, been destroyed, All recommendations for further work are based on a strict salvage program, and are absolute minimum in work required to salvage 10% of the archeological value potentially present.
Of the 12 sites located in this area only 4 are recommended for further work, the two principal problems here appear to be: ( l ) Situation of occupation in "Early Man” times (2) Relationships of pottery
using peoples to non-pottery using peoples.
