Dataset on bending resistance of mantis shrimp spear dactyl club inspired basalt fiber reinforced laminate composites

The laminates with diverse interlayer corners are prepared for bending test on the previous step. And then laminates should be cut into same shape with 80 mm length and 12.5 mm width. And the laminates are cut along diverse direction to realize the diverse loading direction on bending test. The cutting of laminates adopts mechanical cutting method with the universal material prototype of type QL-260. The bending test adopts the form of three-point bending. The distance between the two hinged ends is 64 mm. And then bending tester of type DNS-100 is used to conduct bending test. The loading speed is set to 2 mm·min−1 until failure to obtain force/displacement curve. Besides, the flexural strength, flexural modulus and failure strain can be calculated based on experimental data.
