This research-driven project investigates the transformation of India’s small-town jewelry retail landscape, focusing on how the rapid expansion of large branded showrooms is impacting traditional, family-run jewelry stores. Through a qualitative and observational research approach, the study highlights the competitive pressures faced by local jewelers in Tier‑2 and Tier‑3 cities as customers gravitate toward the style, variety, and ambiance offered by large-format outlets.Drawing on field observations across five diverse urban and semi-urban locations—Khammam, Kodad, Kolhapur, Vijayawada, and Hyderabad—the project analyzes key dynamics such as evolving customer preferences, pricing perceptions, and digital adoption. It sheds light on the socio-economic challenges small jewelers face, including reduced footfall, increased price sensitivity, and the growing demand for lightweight and modern designs.The study also explores adaptive strategies for survival and relevance in a disrupted market. These include embracing digital marketing via WhatsApp and Instagram, offering 16–18 carat and silver-based customizable products, and enhancing customer experience while preserving the trust-based local business model.By bridging the gap in academic literature on non-metro jewelry retail, this paper serves as a crucial insight into how small businesses can respond to market shifts driven by branded showroom proliferation, changing consumer behavior, and retail digitization
