Historical Tsunami Events and Runup Records in East Sea (Sea of Japan)

These two datasets (Spreadsheets) were extracted from NCEI/WDS Global Historical Tsunami Database - Tsunami Event Database and Tsunami Runup Database (Reference: National Geophysical Data Center / World Data Service: NCEI/WDS Global Historical Tsunami Database. NOAA National Centers for Environmental Information. https://doi:10.7289/V5PN93H7). The extracted datasets were further processed to only keep records inside the East Sea (Sea of Japan) with validity values of 3 (probable tsunami) and 4 (definite tsunami). The East Sea Tsunami Event data contains events from 701 to 2025, with 8 data columns: Event year, Longitude, Latitude, Validity (-1~4), Tsunami Cause / source type (1-eq,3-eq+ls,7-vc+ls), max height (m), total number of runup observations, death descriptor. The East Sea Tsunami Runup data contains runup observations from 887 to 2025, with 8 data columns: year, Longitude, Latitude, Validity, Tsunami Cause / source type, max height (m), deaths, death descriptor.
