The root-associated metatranscriptomes of rice were studied across Typic Sulfaquent (acidic), Typic Ustochrept (neutral), and Typic Natrustalf (alkaline) soils using Illumina HiSeq X10 paired-end chemistry. The rice cultivar Pusa Basmati-1509 was grown under controlled conditions and rhizospheric soil samples were collected at full vegetative state (48 days after planting). Metatranscriptomic library was prepared using cDNA and sequencing was carried out on Illumina HiSeq X10 paired-end chemistry (2 x 150 bp, 8Gb of raw data) (NxGenBio Life Sciences, New Delhi, India). The relative abundances of functionally active microbial community members were compared among the rhizospheres of three soil types tested.
