VPRS 16856 Nursing Staff Training Record Books - Orthopaedic Section, Frankston

The series records summary details of trainee nurses employed by the Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) at the Orthopaedic Section at Frankston. Contents are arranged roughly chronologically by date of nurse's entry to the service. Details include full name; date entered and/or date left or when training completed; number of days and nights worked per month (of a given year/s); in which ward placed and period of time working there (including Brighton Convalescent Home); leave taken; a column for examination results; and a comments column with usually a summary comment as well. There is sometimes a note saying where the nurse has transferred to after training. Some nurses appear to have done a short stint of a couple of months at Frankston before returning to the main branch in Carlton.These Registers were found in 1996 in an old cupboard at the former RCH Orthopaedic Section in Frankston (now a nursing home) and were subsequently returned to the RCH Archives Department.See also VPRS 16838 Nursing Staff Training Record Books.Prior to transfer to Public Record Office Victoria, the records in this series were part of the Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) Archives.
