The research is aimed at studying the genetic diversity and genetic structure of natural populations of K. septemlobus in the Russian part of the range. In the Far East of Russia, K. septemlobus populations have the most northern position in the species range. K. septemlobus has medicinal and economic importance. Due to its rare occurrence, the species is listed in the federal Red Book. An analysis of the nucleotide polymorphism of the three chloroplast DNA regions showed that spacers rpl32-trnL and trnS-trnfM had low variability, and psbA-trnH was monomorphic. In K. septemlobus, a low level of genetic polymorphism was found in Primorsky Krai, and a moderate level in Sakhalin. High interregional genetic differentiation is shown. The genetic relationships of the Russian Kalopanax with populations from different places of the extended species range are discussed. The revealed levels of genetic variation and structure of K. septemlobus in the Far East are due to the species life history.
