In the following study the effect of lacking intestinal IRF8-dependent dendritic cells on the gut microbiota composition was investigated. IRF8 was deleted from female C57BL/6 mice using Cre-Lox recombination and compared to IRF8 positive mice. The mice were kept on a low fat diet. When sacrificed cecum and colon samples were collected. DNA was extracted from all samples using Machery-Nagel NucleoSpin Soil kit. Finnally, the microbiota composition was analyzed using 16S rDNA targeted amplicon sequencing on an Illumina Miseq.
