Terrestrial laser scanning data for biomass estimates of mangrove trees in Suriname, Colombia, Panama and Jamaica

Terrestrial laser scanning data for mangrove trees from Suriname, Colombia, Panama and Jamaica. These data were used to estimate biomass and so test allometric equations, as described in the following paper: https://www.biorxiv.org/content/10.64898/2026.06.12.731900v1 Metadata is provided in the excel 'Mangrove_TLS_metadata_deposit'. This contains the country, stem_id, height, trunk diameter (DBH), volume estimate, wood density and biomass estimate, as well as other ancillary information. The TLS data is stored in six folders for each country. TLS_raw/ contains the raw data for each tree or group. clean_tops/ contain the manually cleaned trees with leaves and noise manually removed to the best of our ability using cloud compare. clean_roots/ contain the manually cleaned roots for those trees which have aboveground root systems. QSMs_mat1/ contains the initial 40 Quantitative Structure Models for each stem fit using TreeQSM 2.4.1. These files are in Matlab format to preserve processing information. QSMs_mat2/ contains the 20 QSMs for each tree fit with the optimal parameters determined from QSMs_mat1. QSMs_txt/ contains the 25 optimal QSMs for each tree as txt files for use in the analysis.
