资源简介:
This register is a record of the sheep brands and earmarks registered in the Albury Sheep District and its subsequent agencies. The register contains an alphabetical index which lists the name of the person registering the brand and earmark, number (presumably referring to the number of stock to be branded), the address of the property, and an image of the brand and earmark to be registered. The pages within the register are divided into columns with the following headings: Progressive number; Date of Registration; Name of Proprietor; Address (Including Holding and Post Town); Number of sheep at date of Registration; Brand; Earmark; Amount of Fees; Gazette, Brand, Earmark, Total; and any further remarks relating to the registration. The price of registering a brand and ear mark is also recorded as are the numbers and symbols to be used on the animals. Some entries in the register have been crossed out.The Pastures Protection Act No. 111 from 1902, section 124 states that, "Each district inspector shall keep a book in the form directed by the chief inspector to be called the "sheep brands and marks record" for the entry of all "owners' brands" and marks allotted by him, and also of all distinctive marks as aforesaid which any sheep owner may desire to record."The Pastures Protection Act, No. 35 (1934) Part III, section 30 (4) states that,"The rate shall not exceed four pence per head in the case of large stock and two-thirds of a penny per head in the case of sheep."
