FROM TEMURIDS TO TODAY: LEGACY OF AMIR TEMUR IN STRENGTHENING NATIONAL UNITY

This article examines the enduring legacy of Amir Temur (Tamerlane) and its contemporary relevance to national unity and state-building in Uzbekistan. Drawing on historical sources and modern scholarship, the study analyses how Temur's governance principles rooted in justice, meritocracy, and the integration of diverse peoples continue to inform national identity discourse in post-independence Uzbekistan. Using a qualitative historical-analytical approach, the paper argues that the Timurid model of centralised yet culturally inclusive governance provides a meaningful ideological framework for fostering social cohesion in the present era. The findings suggest that selectively appropriating historical legacies, when grounded in scholarly rigour, can serve as a powerful instrument for strengthening civic unity and national consciousness.
