Genome sequencing of Coxiella burnetii from Belgium (2010-2014)

Four Coxiella burnetii isolates (CbBEB1, CbBEB2, CbBEC1, CbBEC2), originated from Belgian positive animal samples, were isolated in egg/axenic medium to have representative genomes of bovine and caprine Belgian genetic groups. We used different in silico genotyping methods (MLVA, SNP, MST, CanMST) to better describe the genetic fingerprint of these representative strains. The bovine CbBEB1/CbBEB2 strains and the caprine CbBEC2 strain belongs to the MLVA cluster A, SNP2 type, ST61 and genomic group III, while the caprine CbBEC1 strain was classified as MLVA cluster B, SNP1, ST33 and genomic group II.
