The transition from internal combustion engine vehicles (ICEVs) to electrified drivetrains fundamentally reshapes material demand and future secondary raw material supply. However, existing data on vehicle composition are fragmented, proprietary, and poorly suited for systematic recoverability assessments. This study presents a harmonized, openly accessible dataset describing the material and elemental composition of the European passenger car fleet (M1 category) from 1980 to 2050. Using a combined top‑down and bottom‑up approach, we integrate historical and projected data for six drivetrain types and multiple vehicle segments, including the rapidly growing crossover utility vehicle class and battery‑electric vehicles. The dataset links products, components, materials, and elements (p‑c‑m‑e), with particular emphasis on critical and strategic raw materials defined by the European Commission. Alloy compositions are standardized using international norms for aluminum and steel, and uncertainty is quantified via a structured data quality framework. The resulting dataset supports robust stock‑and‑flow modelling, recoverability analysis beyond mass‑based indicators, and alignment with emerging regulatory tools such as Digital Product Passports, enabling evidence‑based resource and circular economy strategies.
