Map Viewing Service (WMS) of the dataset: Risk of forest fires on the territory of the Massif des Maures in the Var

The Risk Prevention Plans (PPR) were established by the Act of 2 February 1995 on strengthening the protection of the environment. In 2003, serious fires took place in the Var department leading the state to prescribe 17 PPR Forest Incendies, including 8 on the Moors massif. The methodology used follows the recommendations of the methodological guide developed in 2002. The hazard forest fire is defined as the probability that a forest fire of given intensity occurs in a location. The constituent parameters of the hazard are: the nature of the fuels, the slope, the sunshine and the wind. The data was created on the basis of an EDR 25 topographic background dating from 2002. The hazard map was created by calculating the intensity of the fire at any point in the territory. The communal territory is divided into squares or pixels, each square is characterised by its type of vegetation, its sunshine, and its resulting wind.
