The Oulu-CASIA NIR&VIS Facial Expression Database contains six basic facial expressions (surprise, happiness, sadness, anger, fear, and disgust) from 80 individuals aged 23 to 58 years old. 73.8% of the subjects are male. Participants were asked to sit on a chair in an observation room in the same posture as they would when facing a camera. The distance between the camera and the subjects' faces was approximately 60 cm. Participants were required to perform the facial expressions according to the examples shown in the image sequences. The imaging hardware operated at a frame rate of 25 frames per second, with an image resolution of 320 × 240 pixels.
