Innovations in European companies.<br>Topics: innovative activities of the company in the last two years: market research for introducing new products or services, introduction of new or significantly improved products or services, introduction of new or significantly improved production or delivery processes or logistics, patent application, register for international trademarks, research and development within the company, research and development performed by other companies for own enterprise; development of turnover in the last two years; distribution markets: region in which company is located, other regions in the own country, other EU countries, outside the EU; advice services in the last two years from: public technology or innovation centre, private consultant, both; received public assistance in the last two years to conduct market research for new products or services; received public support in the last two years for research and development activities via: subsidies, tax credits; hiring of university graduates to support innovation activities in the last two years from: own country, other European Union member states, USA, other countries; degrees of graduates in the following fields: sciences, engineering, product design, economics or business administration, other; satisfaction with level of qualifications of university graduates coming from the own country; received public subsidies to hire university graduates; attended training courses of employees to support innovation activities of the company; received public support to have staff attend training courses; participation of the company in innovation networks in the last two years; support of the aforementioned innovation networks by public assistance; received public assistance for the introduction of new or significantly improved production or delivery processes or logistics in the last two years; importance of public support received for each of the following kinds of innovative activities: advice services, market research, research, collaboration with other firms or organisations, hiring of graduates, staff training, participation in an innovation network, introduction of new or significantly improved processes; main result of public support: speed up innovation process, reduce innovation costs, improve quality of innovations, risk reduction, no effect; necessity of public support with regard to certain innovation projects in the last two years; introduction of new products or services in the last two years in: own country, other EU member states; competitive disadvantage due to the following national regulations for new products or services: environmental regulations, consumer protection regulations, safety regulations, regulations concerning product design characteristics; EU country with the most and the less demanding product regulations; relocation in the last two years of research and development activities to: other EU member states, USA, Asia; main reason for relocation; selling of products in the last two years to each of the following government agencies: defence, public health, public transport and traffic, public education, public research laboratories, public energy and pollution management; demanded level of innovation by public sector customers compared to private sector customers; most effective EU member state with regard to promoting innovation. Demography: information about the company: number of employees in the own country, year of company establishment; region; main activity of the company. Additionally coded was: country; question number; language of the interview; weighting factor.
