Cool Vienna

Rising temperatures put a strain not only on the microclimate, but also on health, especially in densely built-up urban areas. Since 2020, the ‘Cooles Wien’ app has made it quick and easy to find places to cool down and refresh in the middle of the heated urban jungle. A digital map showed drinking fountains, spray showers (“summer splashes”), baths, natural bathing areas, water playgrounds and many other “cooling points” in close proximity. Worth knowing information on the topic of Viennese water and other cool measures (e.g. promotion of facade greening) were also available and were constantly updated. The app will no longer be available in the app stores from 1 September 2023 because the functions have been included in the [Stadt Wien-App](https://www.data.gv.at/application/stadt-wien-app/).
