Data and code for elevation discrepancies and coordinate optimization in botanical occurrence records

This dataset contains processed data, R scripts, manuscript figures, and table outputs used to reproduce analyses for a study comparing elevations reported in botanical occurrence records with elevations extracted from a digital surface model. Species-name information is absent from the deposited CONC dataset and was removed from the high-confidence validation dataset. GBIF scientific names were retained because these records derive from public GBIF occurrence data. The files include curated CONC herbarium records, a random GBIF occurrence sample with standardized elevation and coordinate fields, a parsed GBIF verbatim-coordinate subset, a high-confidence validation dataset used for simulation-based assessment of the coordinate-optimization algorithm, R scripts for the main analyses and validation exercises, and final figure and table outputs. GBIF identifiers are retained to document overlap removal and reproducibility. The ALOS DSM raster is not included because of file size, but the scripts expect it as Datos/ALOS_DSM.tif or through the ELEVATION_DEM_PATH environment variable.
