Transgenerational effects of tetracyclines on the transcriptome of the Australian sheep blowfly (Lucilia cuprina). Lucilia cuprina

The purpose of this study was to examine the within- and trans-generational effects of two tetracycline-class antibiotics, doxycycline and anhydrotetracycline, on the transcriptome of the Australian sheep blowfly (Lucilia cuprina). We found that both antibiotics exerted within- and trans-generational effects on the transcriptomes of the flies. These findings are relevant to the field of genetic pest management, where tetracyclines are often used to control the expression of female-lethal genes.
