Different isolates of entomopathogenic fungi of the same genus and species have genetic variations that can modify their insecticidal activity against their host. Furthermore, the genetic differences that each microorganism has serve as a fingerprint that allows their identification using simple molecular techniques such as PCR. Taking into account the above, the objective of this work was to generate genetic information on the Metarhizium anisopliae MEAPA 0093 isolate. This isolate is pathogenic against oil palm fruit scraper larvae and is part of an ongoing development of a biopesticide for the control of this pest in palm crops.
