Vacation and travel conduct of the population in 1981 as well as
vacation travel plans for the next season. The content of the study is
largely comparable with the other travel analyses.

Topics: taking vacation; number of vacation trips in the last three
years; preferred place of vacation and means of transport on the trip;
type of organization of the trip; same destination each year; preferred
form of vacation; time of travel decision; sources of information used;
psychological demands of vacation; use of travel agency and place of
booking; reasons for utilization of a travel agency; type of travel
agency service used; criteria in selecting a travel agency; judgement
on selected travel agency services; improvement recommendations for
services in travel agencies and reasons for not using them; degree of
relationship of travel companion; travel costs; preferred vacation
activities; time of vacation trip and vacation length; means of
transport used for vacation trip; type of accomodation; type of meals;
general vacation satisfaction.

Vacation planning for next year: vacation destination; preferred type
of organization and form of vacation; preferred vacation countries;
short vacations; the significance of the aspect of relaxation for
vacation.

Negative aspects of the last vacation trip: health consequences;
trouble with authorities; financial losses; lack of contact
opportunities with locals; negative changes at home or at work;
attitude to vacation or vacation trips (scale).

The following questions were posed to those taking several trips:
destination, point in time, length, means of transport used, type of
organization and number of persons traveling along on further vacation
trips.

The following questions were posed to those not traveling: reasons for
not traveling; vacation activities at home; number, length and means of
transport used on short drives and excursions; detailed information on
last vacation trip.

Miscellaneous: assessment of personal economic situation and future
development; attitude to alternative life and achievement or
consumption pressures; personal opinion leadership regarding vacation
questions; car possession.

Demography: age; sex; marital status; ages of children in household;
religious denomination; school education; occupation; occupational
position; employment; household income; household size; household
composition; respondent is head of household; characteristics of head
of household.

Also encoded were: city size; city code; interest in survey topic;
willingness of respondent to cooperate; date of interview; time of
interview; length of interview.
