Water samples had been taken at 10 stations during HE431 expedition aboard the RV Heincke at depths of about 10 m with a rosette sampler at the coasts of Norway (Lofoten) and Sweden (Kategat) between 2014-08-23 and 2014-09-06. All samples were size fractionated to enrich Micrplankton (20-50 µm) samples. 10 microplankton samples were selected and RNA-Seq technology applied on an Illumina HiSeq 2500 sequencer to obtain metatransriptomic profiles.
