Microbial communities in aquaculture ponds play a critical role in pond productivity and fish production success. Nevertheless, our current understanding of the functional diversity of bacterial microbiomes in grass carp pond water and sediments is fragmented. Our study provides a detailed perspective on the functional microbiota in grass carp ponds and leads to a better understanding of the importance of the microbial community to overall aquaculture pond ecosystem function.
