Petrogen

Petrogen is a mantle melting model that can be integrated with a geophysical model of mantle upwelling. Petrogen calculates the major element, trace element, and isotopic compositions of primary lherzolite-saturated mantle melts and their subsequent evolution to eruption. Petrogen is experimentally calibrated for melting in the plagioclase, spinel, and garnet mantle peridotite stability fields with and without small amounts of water. Petrogen models isobaric melting and polybaric melting with any mantle porosity (phi) from pure fractional melting (phi = 0) to pure batch (phi=1) melting.
