Programs, Origins, and Immunomodulatory Functions of Myeloid Cells in Gliomas

Gliomas are challenging malignancies characterized by an immunosuppressive microenvironment filled with myeloid cells, whose roles in immune modulation are not fully understood. In this study, we utilized single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) data from 85 primary human glioma tumors, related blood samples, and brain tumor organoid models. We found that nearly all glioma-associated myeloid cells express at least one of four distinct immunomodulatory activity programs. These programs include:1. Scavenger Immunosuppressive Program2. Complement Immunosuppressive Program3. Microglial Inflammatory Program4.
