Candidatus Thiosymbion ilvense is a sulfur-oxidizing endosymbiont of the gutless marine worm Olavius ilvae. It most likely supplies its host with nutrition through autotrophic carbon fixation. It was formerly called Gamma1-symbiont of Olavius ilvae. This specimen was collected off the coast of Elba, Italy.
