Environmental variables of water and sediment from two locations along the southern coast of the Baltic Sea (2019) (ISOFUN)

The dataset contains environmental measurements recorded during two research campaigns conducted along the southern coast of the Baltic Sea in January–February and October 2019. Environmental data were collected alongside macrozoobenthic samples at eight stations using standardized methods and instruments described by Szczepanek et al., (2024) [https://doi.org/10.1002/lno.12506]. The dataset includes key sediment and water parameters, which provide important context for understanding the macrozoobenthic community structure and function. The dataset comprises measurements of chlorophyll a and phaeophytin as well as organic carbon and total nitrogen in both sediment and water. Further, δ13Corg (organic carbon stable isotope ratio) and δ15Ntot (total nitrogen stable isotope ratio) were measured for both sediment and water. In addition, mean grain size, mud content, and sand content were measured in the sediment. Physical parameters such as salinity and temperature were also recorded at each station. The data are presented in tabular format according to Darwin Core standards, with values reported in standard units relevant to each parameter (e.g., grams per square meter, µg/L for chlorophyll, etc.).
