Comparative Metagenomic Analysis of the Uterine Microbiota in Healthy and Metritic Dairy Cattle

This study investigates the uterine microbiota in dairy cattle with a focus on comparing healthy cows and those diagnosed with metritis, a common postpartum uterine disease. Using 16S rRNA gene sequencing, we characterized and analyzed the microbial communities present in the uterine environment during the early postpartum period. The goal of this research is to understand how microbial composition and diversity differ between healthy and metritic cows, and to identify potential microbial markers associated with uterine health or disease progression. Findings from this study may contribute to improved diagnostics, prevention, and treatment strategies for uterine infections in dairy herds.
