资源简介:
This series consists of a collection of publications produced by the Education Department and successors. The collection was established by the Education Department Library and was intended to function as a deposit collection. It was envisaged that the Collection would hold all Education Department published or produced materials. The collection holds a wide variety of mostly published materials. These include published and internal reports, student course outlines and other curriculum support materials, school magazines/newsletters and publications relating to Departmental surveys, policy initiatives, procedures and budget. It is unclear how systematically the majority of these document types were collected but it is reasonably clear not every item created was received and catalogued into this Collection.Although some examples may be found within its contents, this series generally does not contain a number of published items which can be found in other series. These include:- chronologically arranged accumulations of Departmental circulars and memoranda (refer to VPRS 1675)- curriculum and research documents or publications created prior to 1984 (refer to VPRS 15479 and VPRS 15546)- magazines or newsletters produced by the Department for students, including the School Paper and successor publications (refer to VPRS 15502) or Departmental staff, including the Educational Magazine and successor publications (refer to VPRS 15536), or- newsletters and publications produced by Regional Offices of the Department (refer to VPRS 15524).It is unclear when the Collection was originally established, but was known to have been in existence by 1984. At this time, it was envisaged that the Collection would hold all Education Departmental published or produced materials.Markings found within individual items indicate that the Collection was formed by bringing together items from a number of other Department Library Collections as well as a Curriculum Materials Collection maintained by the Department's former Curriculum Branch. It is thought that the Collection was closed down during the early 1990's for reasons that are subject to further research. One possibility for closure is that the Collection was deemed to duplicate the Department's requirement to maintain a collection of documents to satisfy requirements under the Freedom of Information Act. It was transferred to the Education History Unit of the Department which provided access to members of the public and Departmental staff until it was closed.
