Proteome database of Klebsiella oxytoca

Klebsiella oxytoca is a
Gram-negative, rod-shaped bacterium closely associated with Klebsiella
pneumoniae. Indole-positive, the bacterium is able to colonize the
rhizosphere of plants, and helps in nitrogen fixation. This work presents the
proteome database of K. oxytoca that encompass the protein name, amino
acid sequence, molecular weight, number of residues and nucleotide sequence of
all proteins in the proteome of the organism. Specifically, the proteome
information was obtained from UniProt, and an in-house MATLAB software was used
in calculating the number of residues, molecular weight, and nucleotide
sequence of each protein in the proteome. Collectively, this resource should
find use in functional genomics studies seeking to understand the roles of
genes underlying specific cellular processes in the bacterium, but, more
importantly, why a close relative of a pathogen (Listeria monocytogenes)
turned out to deliver beneficial roles to plant in the rhizosphere microbiome.
