Uncharacterized RNA ligation products are found in yeast and human RNA samples that suggest that the 5' splice site of an intron can be joined to the 3' splice site of the same intron. This project is aimed at characterizing the mechanism that generates these apparent circular introns, determining how often they are formed and whether their formation is altered in certain physiological conditions.
