资源简介:
This dataset and replication package include the data and code necessary to replicate all empirical results reported in the article “From Killing Many to Targeting Few: Economic Growth and Selective Repression in Taiwan’s White Terror Period.” The article examines patterns of repression during Taiwan’s White Terror period and argues that, economic growth increases the likelihood that autocrats rely on selective rather than indiscriminate repression, conditional on the presence and intensity of social movements. The replication archive includes the main dataset (clean_data.csv) used to produce the primary analyses in R (version 4.4.2), including the time-series and instrumental variable (IV) regressions; two CSV files (dta_death_sentence.csv and dta_sentence_outcome.csv) compiled from the Taiwan Transitional Justice Commission (TJC) dataset (tjc.xlsx) and used to generate sentencing patterns across years; one R script (Repli_Taiwan.R) that produces the regression results and coefficient plots for the main analyses; and another R script (Repli_wrangling.R) that performs data wrangling and generates the descriptive patterns reported in the article.
