First reporting of Vibrio diabolicus from coastal waters and pacific Oysters in England

Water and Pacific Oyster samples were collected and isolated from a coastal region of South West England during summer 2020. Primary identification of bacteria by MALDI-TOF and species specific PCR suggested isolates were Vibrio alginolyticus, however, core-genome based phylogenetic analysis using whole genome sequencing data suggested the isolates were actually Vibrio diabolicus.
