The Greenhouse Gases Observing Satellite "IBUKI" (GOSAT) is the world's first spacecraft dedicated to measuring the concentrations of two major greenhouse gases, carbon dioxide and methane (Figure 1). GOSAT was successfully launched on January 23, 2009. By analyzing the observational data from the GOSAT satellite, scientists can determine the global distributions of carbon dioxide and methane, as well as the seasonal, annual, and spatial variations of their sources and sinks. These findings will not only deepen our scientific understanding of the causes of global warming, but also serve as fundamental information sources to better predict climate changes and formulate sound plans to mitigate global warming. Spatial resolution: 2.5° × 2.5°
