Lactobacillus acidophilus strain NCFM. This organism is a normal inhabitant of the human intestinal tract. This strain was isolated from a human in 1970 and characterized at North Caroline State University. It is commercially available from Rhodia Inc., and is used for formula, yogurt, and fluid milk production.
