NBP01-01 multibeam swath bathymetry East Antarctic Margin

Cruise NBP01-01 collected swath bathymetry data along the East Antarctic Margin between 50-150 E longitude. The RVIB Palmer uses a hull-mounted SeaBeam 12 kHz multibeam sonar system. Data from ten major study areas will be accessible through the Antarctic Multibeam Synthesis Database (AMBS) in mid-late 2004 after publication. These areas include: George V Coast, Dumont d'Urville Trough, Davis Sea, Svenner Channel, Prydz Channel, Nielsen Basin, Iceberg Alley, and Edward VIII Gulf. Data were processed onboard ship by Raytheon Polar Services Multibeam Specialist Kathleen Gavahan.
