Probing the nature of a poorly-studied SXWQ: absorption or intrinsic propertyquestionMark

We propose an XMM exposure of the SXWQ PG1700+518. SXWQs usually show a softXray flux fainter by more than an order of magnitude with respect to normaloptically selected QSOs, because of Xray absorbing winds/nuclear outflows, orpeculiar physical states. The SXWQ classification may exhibit a transientbehaviour; therefore, monitoring these peculiar objects can provide a uniqueopportunity to shed light on the accretion flow and nuclear outflows mechanismsin AGN. We aim at investigating the nature of PG1700+518 with sensible pointedobservations,checking for any spectral and/or flux variability. With theproposed observation, all the SXWQs in the wellstudied PG Bright Quasar surveywill be observed at least once by XMM, gathering high quality homogeneous Xray data for all these sources. truncated!, Please see actual data for full text [truncated!, Please see actual data for full text]
