2,366 new mitochondrial genomes with preliminary identification and phylogeny of >5,500 beetles

This dataset contains <b>2,366 newly assembled beetle mitochondrial genomes</b> from Panama and Borneo, generated using pooled-DNA genome skimming and multiple assembly pipelines. These sequences were combined with <b>&gt; 3,000 re-annotated GenBank mitogenomes</b>, producing a phylogenetic dataset comprising <b>5,518 beetles and 9 outgroups</b>, representing nearly all major coleopteran lineages and <b>145 families</b>.The package includes:<b>GenBank flatfiles (.gb)</b> for all assembled full or partial mitogenomes<b>A maximum-likelihood phylogenetic tree (.tree)</b> with 5,527 terminals<b>Metadata (.xlsx)</b> including unique specimen IDs, morphospecies labels, locality information, and provisional taxonomy<b>2,246 beetle images</b> referenced via specimen codes and taxonomic assignmentsThis dataset provides a standardized, large-scale mitogenomic resource for biodiversity research, phylogenetics, and comparative analyses of Coleoptera.
