This thesis investigates whether a polymeric barrier commonly used in landfills can stop harmful “forever chemicals” (PFAS) from passing through. It studies how these chemicals interact with the polymer, how fast they move, and which factors affect this process. Laboratory tests are used to measure chemical uptake and movement under realistic conditions. This work helps improve landfill design and reduces the risk of long-term groundwater and environmental contamination.
