Data and code supporting 'Earth's magnetic field remained weak for 40 million years after the Cambrian radiation'

This record contains the data files and analysis code supporting this study. The deposit includes palaeomagnetism.org upload files for palaeointensity and directional data from the Bourinot and Itabaiana datasets, together with the Python code used to assess the performance of published palaeointensity selection criteria. The CSV files are palaeointensity upload files for the microwave, Shaw and Thellier methods, and the .th files are palaeomagnetic direction upload files. BVdenotes Bourinot and IT denotes Itabaiana. Accuracy_code.py is the Python script used to generate the selection-criteria performance analyses presented in Supplementary Figure 1 and Supplementary Tables 1 and 2. A file-level metadata README is included in this record.
