Direct Emotional Response Videos for Vicarious Emotional Processing in Mice

Videos of mice displaying Direct Emotional Response used to elicit visual Vicarious Emotional Response. Each recording spans more than 30 minutes, with the mouse head-fixed and filmed laterally. All animals are spatially aligned so that the eye occupies a consistent position across sessions. Six subjects were recorded. Each subject experienced five shock intensities, with six trials per intensity, yielding 30 trials per mouse. Trial triggers are encoded in the pixel values located in the upper left corner of each frame. This material is part of the preprint available at https://doi.org/10.1101/2024.11.20.624327The dataset is distributed as a .zip archive containing two folders: upright and scrambled. Each folder includes two file types: .avi videos and .npy arrays holding the trigger timings. An accompanying .xlsx file documents the quality of each trial, specifying whether it is valid or invalid. The upright folder contains the original mouse videos recorded during the experiment, while the scrambled folder contains the same videos after Fourier phase scrambling, preserving low-level physical properties while removing semantic content.
