To support gene discovery in Ciona intestinalis, ESTs were generated by sequencing cDNAs obtained from six cDNA libraries. The ESTs were generated from the 5' and 3' ends of approximately 90000 cDNA clones. EST clustering, sequence comparison, and additional sequencing of cDNA clones suggests that the ESTs represent 13464 genes.
